Once you start to realize that everything you have been focusing your attention on your entire adult life, those things that make you unspeakably angry and depressed, are there to distract you from more important issues, you will realize that the media is not and has never been your friend.

The media has been talking to us almost since the moment of our births. It is time to talk back. More importantly, it is time we start seriously questioning our relationship with the media. Has it perhaps become the third (second? first?) parent in the house? Have we become the perpetual children in a relationship where our parent never ages, never relinquishes the role of nurturer, instructor, authority figure? This book is a compilation of dozens of essays I have written over the years, each demonstrating how our relationship with the media is an unhealthy one, and how the media is unworthy of the trust we place in it.
