Theologian Richard H. Bulzacchelli provides an original translation of the first creation narrative in the book of Genesis, along with an in-depth explanation of its place, purpose, and meaning in its original historical and cultural context. As a Catholic theologian, he reads the text in continuity with tradition, and with an eye toward its enduring relevance for the faithful of today. Dr. Bulzacchelli argues that the idea of God as Elohim and the idea of creation go hand-in-hand. Controversies over evolution frequently miss the point. What is at stake in the text of the Bible is faith in Elohim, who loves us into being.
