Kakuro puzzles (also known as cross sum puzzles) have the following simple rules:

  • Fill the empty squares with only the numbers 1 to 9 so that each continuous horizontal or vertical run of empty squares adds up to the value to the left of it or above it
  • The same number cannot be repeated within any run! Example: To get to the solution 6, the placed values cannot be 3+3; Instead 1+5 or 5+1 would be correct
