This short work by Martin of Braga serves as an exhortation to leaders, highlighting the necessity of humility and the vigilance against the seductive nature of flattery. It stresses that true governance requires the acceptance of harsh truths, even when uncomfortable, as a means of promoting genuine integrity. Drawing on biblical references, it warns against the perils of being swayed by superficial praise and encourages leaders to seek constructive criticism over empty accolades. Ultimately, it advocates for a focus on enduring virtues and the example of humility set by Jesus Christ.
