Tilda loves soup. She makes it every day. But today she wants to make the BIGGEST soup the world has ever seen, and for that, she needs everyone in the pot!
One by one, Tilda calls her animal friends. But Pig has been rolling in the mud all morning. Porcupine is far too pointy. Skunk is, well, a skunk. Giraffe folds and folds but still won't fit. And when Elephant dips in a single toe, SPLOOSH, soup flies everywhere. NOT SOUP! everyone cheers, again and again, until Tilda peers into her great pot and finds it completely, hopelessly empty.
Then a tiny voice pipes up. It's Mouse, with a big idea: nobody is soup, but everybody likes it. Pig brings potatoes, Porcupine carries peas, one to a point, Skunk offers mint, Giraffe reaches for the highest tomatoes, and Elephant, very, very gently, pours the water. Together they stir up something that smells like rain, gardens, and good, warm afternoons. Tilda lifts her spoon, takes a taste, and smiles: THIS is soup.
