An Episode On A Desert Island is a novel written by Beatrice May Butt and published in 1901. The story revolves around a group of passengers who are stranded on a deserted island after their ship is wrecked in a storm. The group includes a wealthy businessman, his wife, their daughter, a young artist, a doctor, and a sailor. As they struggle to survive on the island, tensions rise and relationships are tested. The businessman, Mr. Carrington, takes charge of the group and tries to maintain order, but his authoritarian tendencies cause friction with the other survivors. The artist, Hugh, falls in love with Mr. Carrington's daughter, Muriel, but their romance is threatened by her father's disapproval. Meanwhile, the doctor, Dr. Marston, tries to keep everyone healthy and sane, while the sailor, Tom, uses his survival skills to provide food and shelter. As time passes, the group must face the harsh realities of their situation, including the possibility that they may never be rescued. An Episode On A Desert Island is a gripping tale of survival, romance, and human nature under extreme circumstances. It explores themes of power, class, and gender roles, as well as the importance of community and cooperation in times of crisis. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
