Episcopo and Company is a novel written by the Italian author Gabriele D'Annunzio and published in 1896. The story is set in the small town of Pescara, Italy, and follows the life of a young lawyer named Episcopo. Episcopo is a man of ambition and is determined to succeed in his career, but he is also deeply in love with a woman named Bianca. However, Bianca is already engaged to another man, and Episcopo must navigate his feelings for her while also trying to advance in his profession. The novel explores themes of love, ambition, and morality, as well as the social and political climate of Italy in the late 19th century. Through the characters and their interactions, D'Annunzio also critiques the corruption and hypocrisy of the Italian legal system and the societal expectations placed on individuals.Overall, Episcopo and Company is a complex and thought-provoking work of literature that delves into the complexities of human relationships and the struggle for success in a changing society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
