Sebastian is a young but already established Orchestra conductor who is reluctantly forced to come to terms with his conscience, instinct and, above all, his cumbersome talent.
Just when he thinks he has achieved well-deserved success, his career unexpectedly reaches an involuntary as much as necessary turning point: he is thus obliged to face an unresolved past that has become a burden too heavy to be carried on his path. The book is a journey - at times real, at times figurative - through time and space, in the courageous and therefore painful search of inconvenient but long-desired answers. The characters Sebastian interacts with, the women he meets along the way, and the places that act as a backdrop participating in every micro-story are tiles of a mosaic that is composed piece by piece, acquiring a new and more profound meaning. The dense and detailed narrative, filled with philosophical references and psychological reflections, is accompanied by a soundtrack of classical pieces that imbue the protagonists' words and gestures with even greater meaning and depth. Music that Happens is the fil rouge that links events and people across all the books' pages; it is the transcendent that becomes imminent; it is the signified that overpowers and submerges the signifier and, while it remains an intrinsically magical element by its very nature and origin, perhaps it will no longer be the enigma Sebastian imagined at the start of his journey.
