This academic book provides an extensive examination of innovative pretreatment techniques designed to enhance leather products. The book has an introduction, followed by chapters that detail comparisons of different leather pretreatment methods, identify the best dyeing conditions, and assess the quality of finished leather products. It also looks into and improves leather dyeing methods to make both wet-blue and crust leathers better in terms of quality and performance. In other words, the book looks at optimization of the pretreatments, including ammonium hydroxide, urea and formic acid, along with a non-ionic surfactant and how they affect the speed and ease with which dyes penetrate and hold. The employed dyestuffs were classified into three categories: 1:1 metal complex, mono- and di-chlorotriazine reactive dyestuffs, according to their effectiveness on the pretreated substrates. For each type of dyestuff, the best levels of concentration, dyeing time, temperature, and pH were found. Utilization of the spectroscopic analysis to establish the formation of the covalent or electrostatic forces between the ingredients.
