Elements of Greek Prosody is a comprehensive guide to the study of Greek verse written by Ernst Franz H. Spitzner in 1831. The book covers a wide range of topics related to Greek poetry, including the basics of meter, rhythm, and accentuation, as well as more advanced concepts such as the use of enjambment and the role of word order in verse composition. The author draws on examples from a variety of ancient Greek poets, including Homer, Hesiod, and Pindar, to illustrate the principles of Greek prosody. The book is aimed at students of Greek literature and language, but is also accessible to anyone with an interest in the art of poetry. With its clear explanations and numerous examples, Elements of Greek Prosody remains a valuable resource for scholars and enthusiasts of ancient Greek poetry. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
