Elementary Principles of Harmony: For School and Self-Instruction is a music theory book written by Salomon Jadassohn and first published in 1895. The book is designed to teach the fundamental principles of harmony to students of music, whether they are studying in a school setting or teaching themselves. The book is divided into three parts. The first part introduces the basics of harmony, including the major and minor scales, intervals, and chords. The second part delves deeper into the study of chords, including their inversions and progressions. The third part covers more advanced topics such as modulation, chromatic harmony, and musical form.Throughout the book, Jadassohn provides numerous examples and exercises to help students understand the concepts and apply them to their own compositions. He also includes musical examples from classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven.Elementary Principles of Harmony is a comprehensive and practical guide to music theory that has been used by countless students and teachers over the past century. It remains a valuable resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of harmony and improve their skills as a musician. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
