The combination of aesthetic and ecological considerations offers a wide range of possibilities for the redesign of urban open spaces. This not only creates livable urban landscapes, but also has the potential for beneficial human interaction with nature. A personal connection to the natural environment promotes a sense of responsibility in people and has positive, lasting effects on human and non-human living environments. This thesis deals with the interdisciplinary manifestations of the eco art movement and explains the various aspects of this topic by evaluating existing literature. The projects and working methods of Patricia Johanson are analysed as an exemplary approach to the development of a new design language in landscape architecture. Her designs, which lie at the intersection of art, architecture and ecology, were examined through literature research and site analysis.
