Yet we would not be lifted up with spiritual pride; we are all too full of conscious faults for that. We are far from having attained that for which we are apprehended, and have abundant reason to be tender-hearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us. One family we dwell in Him; One Church above, beneath; Though now divided by the stream--The narrow stream of death. In all this ministry we have been helpers of each other. If the pulpit has been instrumental in quickening and impelling the congregation, the congregation has also quickened and impelled the preacher. Under God's blessing the activities and numbers of the church have steadily increased. Just how much we have grown in grace eludes human inspection. The harmony that has existed between pastor and people, when we consider the number of independent minds, and diversified tastes in this large congregation, and my own manifest imperfections, is simply phenomenal. This, with the unity of spirit and bonds of peace that has so abounded among the mem GROWTH A church ought to continually advance in every good work.
