Digtsamlingen Duas stening handler om Dua Khalil Aswad, en 17-årig kurdisk yazidisk pige. Digtene beskriver, hvordan hun omringet af hundredvis af m nd på grusomste vis blev stenet til d de af sine n re mandlige familiemedlemmer og sl gtninge på Bashikas Plads i Irak den 17. april 2007. I familiens jne var Duas utilgivelig synd, at hun havde forelsket sig i en mand udenfor klanen. En mand, der tilh rte en anden stamme og religion. Filmklip fra steningen fandt vej til tv-stationerne og gik viralt. Selv om klippene var st rkt redigerede, chokerede de seerne verden over. Duas stening er det nok mest kendte såkaldte resdrab.
