It's refreshing to find a poet who can write family verse that isn't trite, stilted, forced or other wise out dated. The 31 poems in Dreams Of Reality are a delightful read. Like cool syrup on a hot stack of pancakes or a soft drink on a hard night.Derrick touches the poetic scene with words and images that inspire, entertain, and bring a smile to ones face all at once. There is nothing pretentious about these poems, simple as they are in their sincerity. Derrick was raised in Chipley Flordia, a small town on the out skirts of Flordia. Raised around poetry and music throught his young childhood. His lyrical style shows through in every verse as he delivers poetry that anyone from any walk of life can read and enjoy. His passion, enthusiasm and aspiration are virtues in a superficial society. He knows how to express himself in respectful ways without selling out the message for a hype, and thats a rare gift
