Disappointment Is a Dachshund is a heartfelt children's picture book about learning to navigate disappointment with courage and curiosity.
When Bella wakes up excited for Butterfly Day, she's certain it will be perfect. But when things don't go as planned, her tail droops and her joy fades. With the gentle presence of Murphy, a golden retriever who seems to find delight in everything, Bella begins to discover that even when plans fall apart, something meaningful can still unfold.
Written by Debra Roy, LPC, this warm and reflective story helps children ages 4-8 understand big feelings, build emotional resilience, and discover how joy can quietly reappear when we stay open and brave.
Perfect for families, classrooms, and counselors, Disappointment Is a Dachshund supports social-emotional learning and meaningful conversations about coping, flexibility, and finding hope in unexpected moments.
