The Dinka language is an old language. Its occurrence go as far back as the beginning of the recorded history. However, it was used largely orally. Fortunately, committing it to writing has began though this uncoordinated effort goes back to only the last fifty years or so. Although it is a language rich in figures of speech, carrying tremendous wisdom and culture, its rich traditions remain largely unrecorded and are, unfortunately, currently fast fading away. However, with the need to train the young, including my own, as has been the practice, I took pen to paper and started collecting and compiling its proverbs from all its sections. Most importantly, these proverbs have largely been written and translated from the point of view of the Twic Dinka language since that is the part of the Dinka Language which I understand better. Furthermore, this booklet is the accompanying English translation of the Keng e Monyjang Ci Maat Ic containing the 218 proverbs in Dinka Language as they are spoken. The collected and translated Dinka Proverbs in this small book will present to you unparalleled wisdom uniquely from the Dinka world. Learn them to guide your young. I hope I did not miss some parcels of this wisdom in translation.
