In Death and Other Amusements, Ellen C. Goldberg displays a sublime sensibility, a sophisticated intellect that conveys life's ironies and pleasures, its tragedies, such as the overwhelming loss of a daughter. Her onrushing breathless voice embraces the slipstream, the realistic, and the surreal to become a profound lyrical meditation. STEPHANIE DICKINSON, author of The Emily Fables and Girl Behind the Door: A Memoir of Delirium and DementiaThis debut poetry collection by Ellen C. Goldberg, is a remarkably courageous offering. These poems confront truths of mortality while celebrating gifts of life. We are given insights into meanings of loss - of a young daughter, of close friends - with images that take us from details of reality into unexpected dimensions of awareness... Ellen C. Goldberg has given us a book of distinctive, wise poetry. CHARLOTTE MANDELL, author of To Be the Daylight
