Dit boek presenteert de volledige teksten van de drie leringen van Krishna - de Bhagavad Gita, de Anu Gita en de Uddhava Gita.
De Nederlandse vertalingen van de Bhagavad Gita en de Anu Gita, gebaseerd op teksten uit de Mahabharata, zijn in deze editie vrijwel letterlijke vertalingen van het oorspronkelijke Sanskriet. Daardoor kunnen sommige woorden wat onhandig aan elkaar gekoppeld lijken en onverwacht in de zin geplaatst zijn. De indeling van de strofen in coupletten, zoals die in het oorspronkelijke Sanskriet voorkwam, is juist om deze reden behouden. Deze keuze was bedoeld om de geest van de Sanskriettekst te vangen, zodat de lezer de ontwikkeling van het verhaal kan ervaren zoals gepresenteerd door Krishna, de auteur van de Gita, zoals verteld door de wijze Sanjaya, en opgetekend door Vyasadeva, de heilige auteur van de Mahabharata. De vertaling van de Uddhava Gita, gebaseerd op de Sanskriettekst van de Bhagavata Purana, is daarentegen in een zachtere, meer literaire stijl uitgevoerd.
