Through his theology, the late Romanian theologian Dumitru Staniloae (1903-1993) continues to be one of the most important Orthodox thinkers of modern times. A comprehensive analysis of his thought, Dumitru Staniloae: Tradition and Modernity in Theology is an assessment of his theology. For the first time, articles on three main topics of Staniloae's theology are collected in one volume examining his thought in a comparative framework alongside other modern theologians. The book will be appreciated by students of ecclesiology and ecumenism, as well as those seeking to find out how a major Orthodox thinker addresses modern issues. The editor, Lucian Turcescu, is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at St. Francis Xavier University, Canada, interested in retrieving the patristic sources of modern concepts of person, and in the Roman Catholic-Orthodox ecumenical dialogue. He has published articles on early Christian concepts of person, Christology, ecumenism, and ecclesiology.
