Clyde saved a failing Nebraska fort for Custer and the 7th Cavalry before he headed south to fight in the Civil War. Returning to the life of a drover meant leaving the Army as a deserter, matching wits with a notorious lawman and watching the birth of a Kansas Cowtown.
