When the gang learn of toby's intention to marry Reka, they insist they also own (and intend to rape) her. Reka is smuggled to safety in Auckland, while Toby disappears to a new life, with a new identity (Kiwa) in the deep south. A nationwide search by gangs eventually locates them both. Reka is kidnapped and taken south ( her friend Mahina is accidently brought along too) for the confrontation with Kiwa.
