The Drifter:
Chase Masters is a drifter who has been mistaken as the notorious bandit, Bloody Bart. Chance brings these two together, and in self-defense, Chase takes the man's life. When the Dover Gang arrives in the night and thinks Chase is Bart because of the uncanny resemblance, Chase decides to assume the bandit's identity. His intentions, other than saving his own life, are to try to stop the gang from robbing another stagecoach and killing innocent people.
The Widow:
Nessa Pemberton runs a stagecoach relay station with her young son and maimed brother. Her husband was killed by the Dover Gang two months earlier. Each day she fears for her family's life, being unprotected and in the middle of nowhere to no place to hide. When a wounded man shows up in her barn, he claims he is a drifter and that he wants to help her. She believes him until her brother recognizes the man as the notorious bandit, Bloody Bart.
Nessa needs an able-bodied man for protection, and isn't sure if she should trust this man or kill him herself. Her head says not to believe him, but her heart tells her he is just the man she needs in her life. Trust and truth aren't easy to come by on the open plains. This man is testing her resolve.
One right decision could save her family's life, but one wrong choice could get them all killed.
