The Drawings of Henry Fuseli by Paul Ganz is a comprehensive collection of the drawings of Henry Fuseli, a Swiss artist who was active in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Fuseli is best known for his vivid and often grotesque depictions of mythological and supernatural subjects, and this book showcases over 1,000 of his drawings, many of which have never been published before. The book is organized thematically, with chapters devoted to subjects such as ancient mythology, Shakespearean plays, and Gothic horror. Each drawing is accompanied by detailed commentary from Ganz, who provides insight into Fuseli's artistic process, influences, and themes. The book also includes a biographical introduction to Fuseli and a bibliography for further reading. This is a must-have for anyone interested in the art of Henry Fuseli or the history of drawing in general. This is a new release of the original 1949 edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
