Doctor Faust and Miss Marguerite or The Young Duck with the Old Quack is a burlesque opera written in four acts by Robert Jasper Martin. The story is a comedic retelling of the classic tale of Faust, a scholar who makes a deal with the devil, and his love interest Marguerite. In this version, Faust is portrayed as an old quack doctor who is seeking to regain his youth and vitality, while Marguerite is a young and innocent duck. The opera features lively musical numbers and absurd comedic situations, poking fun at the original story and adding a unique twist. First published in 1885, Doctor Faust and Miss Marguerite or The Young Duck with the Old Quack is a humorous and entertaining work that continues to delight audiences today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
