Mike Szymanski for years was the National Dachshund Examiner, who collected wonderful first-person personal accounts about people who had Dachshunds and worked with the ergonomically-challenged long sausage dogs. In this first edition of his series, he recounts a dozen stories of Dacshshunds, including a Doxie photographer, a filmmaker who used six Dachshunds in her movie, and then another who used dozens of Dachshunds in his movies. There is a story of a Dachshund miracle, the real story of the Wiener Village in Bavaria, true stories of Doxies on military combat, Obie the obese Dachshund, Ammo the flying Doxie, and fun facts about Waldo the first Olympic mascot, who happened to be a Doxie. There's the story of the Twilight director who was inspired by a Dachshund, and a fear that some experts have that the breed will go the way of the Do-Do bird. Check out these fun, heart-warming and informative stories of the amazing breed of dog.
