Keester of the Homeowners Association, Cal Lockwood's reluctant return to a subdivision of repressed, dysfunctional families foreshadows a cataclysmic uprising. Enter Reynosa and Armstrong, a male-female team of off-kilter detectives who get as much right as they do wrong. Cal is an immediate suspect. Worse, Cal suspects his own father, who leads a life of quiet frustration. Attempting to identify the actual perpetrator, Cal unites with Jayne Dubray, the alluring next door neighbor who has also recently returned - there to bury the murdered father she is estranged from. With the growing climate of fear infiltrating the subdivision, the residents, many already unhinged, begin turning on themselves.
Madness, mayhem, and not a little hilarity, ensue. As the death toll and destruction climbs, Cal Lockwood and Jayne Dubray must navigate their way through it all in a desperate effort to free themselves, fasten on to a future together, and leave Dormido Hills forever behind.
