There are many things we can do to produce more dopamine. Some do drugs, some write and some read. Our choices seem like endless cycles perpetuated by the need to feel good. We engage in these cycles for an instant fix, like slapping a Band-Aid on a wound, to give ourselves a sense of joy even for just a few moments. Some of us find ways to maintain this sense of joy and, in turn, find stability. This story is about the ones who cannot. DOPEamine is a story of love, sex, mental illness, trauma, addiction and growth. It tells the story of a young Queer individual who had to survive the streets of Toronto to find peace and purpose. Although tumultuous and heartbreaking, it is a sobering testimony of DOPE and DOPAMINE.
