If you find a freebie now and then, great, but if you wait for freebies you may be waiting a long time. Dreams don't fall out of the sky every day. Most winners chase victory down. They know that if they don't, then success is unlikely. I encourage you to be like Achsah and refuse to settle for a dry piece of ground.Pg.21 ... God loves you. He does not begrudge you a successful life. Some people have been misinformed or misunderstand God. They see Him as frowning on any goal that is less than heaven. They are wrong. He is not against earthly things; He created those things. He enjoys blessing people in many ways. Of course, make spirituality your priority. Heaven is the ultimate goal, but you may also seek other blessings this side of heaven. Don't settle for a dry piece of ground. Pg.25 ... After praying, we don't sit back, do nothing, and wait for an angel to deliver a hot pizza to our front door. We pray and then we go to work. God delights to work with us when we are willing to labor and sweat. The Promised Land is a great example of this principle. God worked with Israel, but they had to fight for the land. They did not sit in the bleachers and watch God defeat the enemy. They got out on the battlefield with God and together worked for victory. They did not settle for a dry life in the wilderness, they wanted more, they went after it, and God blessed them. That is the way it usually works with God. Pg.27 ... A wish is a good starting point, but things really begin to happen when a wish transforms into a plan. Caleb first wished that he had the territory of Kirjath Sepher and then he started planning. He came up with a plan and that is when Othniel stepped up and things really began to happen. Of course, success is not a 100% guarantee, but a plan coupled with action improves the odds. Pg.30 ... God is not looking for spectators. He calls soldiers. Othniel understood this principle. He knew that Caleb did not need someone to come watch, but someone to stick his neck out and go fight. Othniel refused to settle for a dry life and God blessed him.Pg.39 ... Christianity is a wonderful way of life for those that dive in headfirst like Paul. Victory is ours and no one can defeat us. We may not get all the material things we desire, but the victories that takes place on the inside are far more valuable. Focus on the spiritual first, and the other things in life will still be enjoyable, but not as vital. When you experience Christ as Paul did in the above verse, you will still want a place to live, a mate, and springs of water, but a humble version will be inexplicably enjoyable when inner treasures fill your heart.
