Don Juan of Persia: A Shi'Ah Catholic is a book written by G. Le Strange that tells the story of a Persian nobleman named Juan de Persia who converted to Catholicism in the 16th century. Juan de Persia was born into a prominent Shi'ah Muslim family but became interested in Christianity after meeting a Jesuit missionary. He eventually converted to Catholicism and became a fervent supporter of the faith, even traveling to Rome to meet with the Pope. The book explores the cultural and religious context of Persia during this time period, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by those who chose to convert to Christianity. It also sheds light on the complex relationship between Shi'ah Muslims and Catholics in Persia and the wider Middle East. Overall, Don Juan of Persia is a fascinating historical account of a little-known figure who played an important role in the religious and cultural history of Persia.1926. During the years 1602 and 1603, in Spain, and after he had become an ardent Roman Catholic, Don Juan of Persian, as he was now proud to be called, compiled his Relaciones. The work is divided into three parts: the First Book describing his native country and its government, followed by an epitome of ancient and medieval Persian history; the Second Book treating of the late wars between the Persians and the Turks, and the Third Book dealing with his journey from Isfahan into the countries of the West. This volume is the translation of this work. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
