The Dollar Princess is a musical play written by Alfred Maria Willner in 1909. The play is set in Europe and follows the story of a wealthy American heiress named Alice who travels to Europe in search of a titled husband. Alice is determined to marry into European nobility and is willing to spend her fortune to do so. She meets a young Englishman named Freddy, who is in debt and looking for a way to pay off his creditors. Freddy and Alice strike a deal: he will pretend to be a prince and marry her in exchange for her money. However, things become complicated when Freddy falls in love with Alice and must choose between his love for her and his desire for financial security. The play is a comedic romance with catchy songs and entertaining dance numbers. It explores themes of love, money, and social status, and offers a satirical commentary on the aristocracy of Europe at the time.Music By Leo Fall. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
