This long-form poem by Samuel Garth tells the story of a group of doctors who band together to open a dispensary for the poor. Their efforts are met with resistance from the medical establishment, but they eventually succeed in their mission and are celebrated as heroes. The poem is a scathing critique of the medical industry of the time, and still resonates with readers today.
