This model helps people to think holistically, to better understand connections, and to make decisions that are not only short-term but also sustainable and universally valid.
2. The Dimensions in Detail
A. Time - the Dynamics of Change
Everything is in flux: past, present, and future are in constant interaction.
Decisions should not be based only on the present, but also on their impact on the future.
Historical experience and human knowledge form the foundation on which today and tomorrow are built.
Guiding thought: The only constant in the universe is change.
B. Place - the Universal Perspective
Every thought and every action takes place at a specific place: within ourselves, in society, on Earth, in the universe.
Place means not only physical space but also context: cultural, social, ecological.
Considering place opens awareness for connectedness: We all live on the same Earth, in the same universe.
Guiding thought: We all share the same universe.
C. Ethics - the Universal Orientation
Ethics is the compass of thinking: without ethics, there is no direction.
Universal ethics means making decisions not selfishly or short-sightedly, but with a view to the good of all living beings.
Central to Haydar Toraman's universal maxim:
Do no evil, do good - for all beings, regardless of time and place.
Ethics connects the dimensions of time and place, ensuring that actions are responsible here and now, as well as in the future and everywhere.
