Dimensions in Christian Religious Studies addresses the very all important connections between the set goals of the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) curriculum, its interpretations, and the derivable end results. The book is timely and relevant as it is not strange to have Christian religious studies students in Nigeria post-secondary schools who would ordinary attend their registered religious studies classes without making any direct link between what is being studied and the intended planned objectives of the curriculum. The reason is not farfetched. Often, the aims and objectives of the various courses are neither spelt out directly in the various course outlines, nor are they made directly available to the students as part of the course. The syllabi in Christian religious studies are usually presented as guide through the teaching/learning sessions. In cases where the traditional lecture method of teaching dominates the sessions, the chance of establishing the connection between the curriculum and their relevance to the aims and objectives of the course are slim. It is in the light of this problem that this book has made a major contribution to CRS curriculum development in Nigeria, and to teacher education in particular. The five parts division of the book facilitates an easy navigation through the book. The first part could as well pass for a general introduction to the book and its intentions. Part two addresses pertinent issues that confront post-secondary schools religious study student, namely, what a Christian religious study student could make of themes that expose their faith to critical questioning. Part three takes on the relevance of Christian religious studies curriculum to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the National Education Policy. The most needed peaceful co-existence in the country is addressed from the point of view of the curriculum of Christian religious studies in part three. Part four takes up the issue that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari so emphasise; that is, elimination of corruption in private and public sector. The part offers quality leadership in the tradition of the Old Testament Prophets as a way forward. The course in Old Testament Prophet is thus given a fresh look with deep insight to addressing Nigeria's problems. The final part of the book is concerned with the country's religious and cultural heritage. The section also considers the acquired Christian religious heritage in the pursuit of attaining a fulfilled life. Overall, the book is highly recommended to readers who would want to have a different perspective of Christian religious studies as taught in post-secondary schools in Nigeria. It is particularly recommended to Christian religious studies students and teachers for whom the book is primarily written.
