Compared to traditional teaching methods, Dialogue Exchange dramatically increases classroom speaking practice. Each chapter contains a nine-panel comic strip that illustrates the dialogue, plus several worksheets. Most activities have the students speaking in pairs or small groups. Activities begin with controlled practice and progress gradually toward free practice. The content is everyday, survival English, and the goal is communicative competence. Dialogue Exchange contains both instructions for teachers and student worksheets. Worksheets can be photocopied for classroom use. The materials are designed for adults or older teenagers and are suitable for beginners from all backgrounds. Some activities can be used for tutoring or for language exchanges.
