Dewplicitous is an ecopoetic collection exploring California's deteriorating water systems - its rivers, deltas, and aquifers - and the communities that depend on them. The project bridges scientific and political realities with emotional and spiritual responses to environmental degradation.
The collection blends free verse, lyric, epistolary poems, and field-poems generated through site visits to at-risk ecosystems. It centers the voices most affected by water scarcity and pollution: farmworkers, Indigenous communities, and the land itself.
The work also examines how environmental harm falls disproportionately on marginalized communities, weaving ecological urgency with questions of justice. Central to the project is a shift in language - away from control and consumption, toward kinship and accountability.
Ultimately, Dewplicitous asks how we grieve vanishing landscapes, love poisoned rivers, and hold beauty alongside catastrophe. This collection is a reservoir for resistance and change.
