Gio' senza meta is a novel that explores human fragility, guilt, and the weight of unconfessable secrets. Gio' is a respected airline pilot who leads a seemingly orderly life, but inside him a silent war is raging; tormented by a past he cannot overcome, Gio' seeks refuge in a routine of amorous adventures and cocaine, but nothing can appease the anguish that torments him. An inner voice constantly brings him back to the memory of a child - himself - and the scene of a fight between a wolf and a horse, whose lives are wasted in a deadly and pointless challenge.
When he meets a group of young people with no rules, among whom Greta stands out, Gio' rediscovers a feeling that seemed lost. In Gio', Greta is a reflection of what he has lost or perhaps never had. As he gets closer to her, however, pieces of his dark past emerge: Gio' has been involved in some operations in the wake of the Italian Mysteries and still maintains a disturbing relationship with a secret agent who, while protecting him, is a threat to his life.
Just when he seems on the verge of finding a way to escape his demons, Gio' realizes that he himself is a danger to anyone close to him. In an act of desperate self-defense, Gio' must leave his job, Greta, and all human ties, choosing isolation as the only way to protect those he loves.
Against the backdrop of this story, which also has its moments of humor, is the endless crisis of Alitalia and the dark, often grotesque, modus operandi of Italian politics.
