Der Jahrmarkt is a comic opera in two acts by Georg Benda, with a libretto by Friedrich Wilhelm Gotter. This historical work offers a glimpse into the world of 18th-century German opera, showcasing Benda's musical talent and Gotter's witty writing. The opera, whose title translates to The Fair, likely involves the lively atmosphere and characters of a marketplace, a common setting for comic operas of the period.
This edition preserves the original text, making it an invaluable resource for scholars and enthusiasts of classical music, German literature, and the history of opera. Experience the charm and humor of Der Jahrmarkt, a testament to the enduring appeal of classical German opera.
