Every Muslim apologist, whether a street preacher or a PhD-holding scholar, works from the same set of arguments. This book contains nearly every one of those arguments, and answers them thoroughly.
Deconstructing Dawah is an evidence-based Christian apologetic response to Islamic claims. It does not summarize Islam from a distance. It goes directly into the Quran, the Hadith, the early manuscripts, Islamic history, and the classical commentaries, and shows why Islam's central assertions do not hold up under honest examination.
Each of the twenty chapters contains a certain Islamic line of argument. Each chapter also contains the academic and digestible response to the argument.
If there is a mainstream argument that exists today, it is contained within this work. Some Muslim arguments addressed within this book include:
- The Bible has been corrupted.
- The Quran has been perfectly preserved.
- Jesus was a Muslim.
- Jesus was never crucified.
- Christians and Muslims worship the same God.
- Muhammad was sinless.
- Muhammad's prophecies came true.
- Islam is a religion of peace.
- The Quran contains scientific miracles no human could have known.
Every one of these arguments is quoted directly, examined against the primary sources, and refuted in full.
Readers will also work through the formation of the Quran, including the Battle of Yamama, Uthman's standardization, the Satanic Verses incident, lost verses, competing recitations, and what the earliest surviving Quran manuscripts actually contain. They will see how Gnostic, apocryphal, and Jewish midrashic material entered the Quran.
They will follow the case for Christ's divinity, the Trinity, the historical crucifixion, and the resurrection through scripture, secular attestation, and the early Church Fathers. They will examine Muhammad's genealogy, his claimed sinlessness, his sixteen special privileges, his treatment of women, his military campaigns, his prophecies, and the circumstances of his death.This book was written for Christians who want real. straight forward answers, not talking points.
