Dealing with the Problem of Witchcraft: The Standard Christian Principle

Over time, hundreds of thousands of people have been stigmatized, assaulted, or killed on mere suspicion of witchcraft. While the practice has decreased in America and Europe, it is on the rise in Africa. Apostle Paul states in 1 Corinthians 14:33, God is not the author of confusion.... Yet, confusion persists among Christians about how to address the problems of witchcraft. Most African Christians believe that God has commanded the killing of witches and wizards, but others hold that Jesus came to save sinners, including the alleged witches and wizards. This book aims to clarify the Standard Christian Principle on dealing with the problems of witchcraft. There is an important need for an appropriate Christian response that is founded in love and truth rather than in confusion, intimidation or violence so as to reflect Jesus' mission to save sinners and uphold the principles of social justice. The Standard Christian Principle to deal with the problems of witchcraft is the acknowledgment and demonstration of the sanctity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is focused on saving the souls of those taken captive by Satan. No matter how spiritual the case may be, human dignity must be respected, and witchcraft suspicions handled with wisdom, grace, truth, and justice as was demonstrated by Jesus Christ. As Head of the Church, it is not recorded anywhere that Jesus sought the death of sinners, including witches and wizards. It is therefore a desecration of the Christian faith for anyone who professes Jesus to seek the death of witches and wizards.
