When Katie dies in what can only be described as a deeply avoidable bathroom incident, she expects the usual afterlife package: darkness, peace, maybe a vague sense of closure.
Instead, she wakes up in her childhood home.

Will has been haunting the house since 1989. He's organised, territorial, stuck firmly in another decade, and deeply unimpressed by the fact that Katie has apparently decided to join him.

They argue over everything from television to the correct way to haunt a house, discover that emotions can change the world around them, and slowly become far more important to each other than either of them intended.
But Katie is still grieving the life she left behind. Her family is learning to live without her. Her ex-boyfriend Liam still has things he never got to say. And Katie has to confront the possibility that the future she thought she wanted might not have been her future at all.
Because sometimes the person you're meant to find isn't someone you meet during your lifetime.
Sometimes, you have to die first.
And after thirty-seven years of waiting, Will may finally have found the person he was always supposed to meet.
Because maybe they weren't brought together by death.
Maybe death was simply the longest route the universe could have taken to get them there.
