Das Sparkassenwesen by Constantin Schmid, originally published in German, provides a detailed examination of the savings bank system. Focusing on the Prussian model and commissioned by the Central-verein, this Volume 1 offers insights into the operations and societal impact of savings banks, particularly concerning the working classes. The book explores the financial structures, governance, and historical context of these institutions, illustrating their role in promoting thrift and economic stability.
This historical work is invaluable for researchers and readers interested in the development of banking, economic history, and the social welfare systems of 19th-century Prussia and Germany.
