More than a hundred years ago, the world as we knew it was devastated by an unprecedented series of earthquakes. Over time, the few survivors who remained grouped themselves into small settlements where they survive in the old ways.
Each settlement is governed by its own rules, but there's one thing they all share: they know that no one should cross the Tenebris forest, which is said to be cursed and from which those who enter never return.

When water supplies begin to run low, Eiver and Zaiguer are sent beyond their walls in search of a new place to settle.
Both know they must avoid groups like the Cannibals or the Hunter's Dwelling people, true savages who ruthlessly murder anyone who ventures into their territory. They have prepared themselves for this, but not for what they find in what should still be the safe zone of their settlement: a trench full of corpses whose faces they can name. They soon discover a web of lies that will make their mission overshadowed by a much more important one: saving their lives.
While on the run, fate will make their paths cross with Zatriel, a young woman who has been banished from her settlement for sleeping with someone she shouldn't have.
Eiver and Zatriel won't get off to a good start, but they'll soon learn that together they have better chances of survival, especially when the small group has no choice but to enter the dreaded Tenebris forest if they want to stay alive.
