The overriding message of the book of Daniel is that God is in control. The Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar had to learn and acknowledge that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will. Even the mysterious seventy sevens tells the same message - seven is God's number. In today's world, this is the message we need to know and believe.
