This poetry book is an exploration of different topics relating to mental health, over the course of 187 poems. Tailored for young adults, this book examines themes such as love, loss, survival, abuse, self-destruction, and healing. It provides a sanctuary for empathy, understanding, and encouragement in face of these struggles and victories. This message is conveyed by structuring the book into four chapters - craving, death, decay, and fighting.
Organized into four distinct chapters - Craving, Death, Decay, and Fighting - each section serves a unique purpose by conveying messages that interconnect while also reflecting the inherent conjunction of life and its complexities. The Craving chapter explores the desire for a fulfilling life, the pursuit of one's potential, the longing for meaningful love, and the aspiration to embrace life to its fullest. Conversely, the Death chapter navigates themes of loss, grief, and the associated uncertainties, extending to metaphorical losses and the demise of dreams or hope. In the Decay chapter, the focus shifts to self-sabotage, self-destruction, mental health struggles, and the examination of abuse and pain to portray how individuals accustomed to suffering may inflict it upon themselves. The concluding chapter, Fighting, articulates hope, healing from decay, and recovery after experiencing the metaphorical death explored in the preceding chapters. Central to the distinctiveness of my work is its incorporation of descriptive and vivid imagery through metaphors, skillfully utilizing a range of juxtapositions, as well as imagery descriptive of nature, to clearly depict the emotions encapsulated in each poem. While this writing contains rich imagery, it maintains a direct and focused narrative that resonates widely, offering relatability that transcends demographic boundaries.
