Corruptrice is a novel written by Emile Goudeau in 1889. The book is set in Paris during the late 19th century and tells the story of a young woman named Marie who becomes a courtesan in order to support herself and her family. Marie is beautiful, intelligent, and ambitious, but she is also manipulative and ruthless. She quickly rises to the top of the social ladder, using her wit and charm to seduce wealthy men and gain power and influence. However, her success comes at a cost, as she becomes increasingly isolated and corrupt. The novel explores themes of love, power, and morality, and offers a vivid portrait of the decadent and glamorous world of high society in Paris during the Belle poque. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
