A book to help children understand how the many races of this world came to be. This complex issue is broken down, beginning in Africa. The relationship between living on the equator and direct sunlight is explained as it relates to skin color. The story then goes on to describe how dark-skinned people living near the equator moved northward to populate new areas and as they did their skin grew lighter. It describes ancient people's journeys across the landbridge and into North and South America. Once again as they moved south to populate this new land they made their way back towards the equator and once again their skin color grew darker. From Africa to South America people's skin color went from dark to light and back again.
