Coeur D'Alene is a novel written by Mary Hallock Foote and first published in 1894. The story is set in the American West during the late 19th century and follows the life of a young woman named Constance who moves to the mining town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with her husband. As Constance tries to adjust to her new surroundings, she finds herself struggling to fit in with the rough and tumble lifestyle of the miners and their families. She also faces challenges in her marriage, as her husband becomes increasingly distant and preoccupied with his work in the mines.Despite these difficulties, Constance is determined to make a life for herself in Coeur d'Alene. She befriends a local woman named Mrs. St. John, who helps her navigate the social and cultural landscape of the town. Constance also becomes involved in the local community, volunteering her time to help those in need.Throughout the novel, Foote paints a vivid picture of life in the American West during a time of great change and upheaval. She explores themes of gender roles, class differences, and the struggle for survival in a harsh and unforgiving environment.Overall, Coeur D'Alene is a compelling and thought-provoking novel that offers a unique glimpse into the history and culture of the American West. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
