Most third graders worry about homework and spelling tests. Alexi accidentally launches herself into millions of years of history.
Alexi is an eight year old problem magnet with wild blonde hair, curious green eyes, and a talent for finding trouble in places most people would never look. When the first day of school ends with a flooded classroom and a trip to the principal's office, Alexi thinks her biggest problem is paying for a broken fish tank.
She is wrong.
A mysterious new neighbor moves in across the street. The eccentric Professor Bartholomew is a brilliant scientist who drives a battered moving truck and hides something extraordinary in his garage. Inside sits a machine unlike anything Alexi has ever seen, a strange vehicle filled with clocks, maps, and a countdown that hints at impossible secrets.
When the professor suddenly disappears and a desperate message appears on a mysterious device, Alexi makes a decision that will change her life forever.
She pulls the red handle.
In an instant, Alexi is hurled across time itself. One moment she is a third grader walking home from school. The next she is racing through prehistoric jungles, escaping a charging Tyrannosaurus Rex, meeting ancient tribes, and discovering that history is far more dangerous than anything in her textbooks.
With only her wits, her courage, and a malfunctioning time machine, Alexi must travel through the past to rescue the missing professor before it is too late.
But someone else may be watching.
Someone who already knows the secrets of time.
Filled with humor, heart, and thrilling adventures across history, Chronicles of Alexi: First Launch is a fast paced middle grade science fiction adventure about curiosity, courage, and the surprising power of one determined girl to change the future.
Perfect for readers ages 8 to 12 and for anyone who has ever wondered:
What if time travel were real?
