What do you take away after listening to sermons, when you hear preachers and read commentaries on, and perspectives of, Biblical principles? Do you get a deeper understanding or do you think about it at all? This book shares what one layman has learned from sitting in pews, heard from evangelists such as Billy Graham and Dr. Charles Stanley and read in commentaries and books by John MacArthur, C. S. Lewis, Spurgeon, Bunyan, J. I. Packer and others. With no formal theological training, the author is presenting what he has assimilated and come to understand on his journey as a Christian, attempting to separate human tradition from Biblical teaching. This is more or less an impromptu Bible study covering a variety of topics. As with any Bible study, the reader will no doubt agree and disagree with various chapters and want to add his or her own two cents worth, but hopefully all will find some kernel of value or at the least, want to look closer at a topic previously unexplored. In reading this book and forming opinions, the best example to follow is that of the Bereans, who: searched the scriptures daily to see if those things were so (Ac17:11).
